A. Abbott & Sons is an independent funeral director that is completely family owned and run. This means when you call on A. Abbott & Sons you know exactly who you are dealing with.

Established in 1885, the company still operates from the same premises in Bedford Road, Rushden, but over the years these have been altered and refurbished to take account of today's needs. In fact the company holds a Northamptonshire Business Environment Award for structural improvements, which allows for disabled access to all public areas. The company has private chapels of rest, a service chapel is providing a particularly useful service for the public as it allows both religious and non-religious services to take place locally.

An additional Chapel of Rest has now been opened at Ringstead. This will enable families in the Ringstead area (Raunds / Thrapston / the Addingtons etc.) access to a beautiful private chapel of rest.

Funeral Directors are Mrs Patricia Abbott, Michael Hart-Abbott A.C.I.B.

Mr Jonathan L Hart-Abbott Dip.F.D. and now funeral arranging Beverley Sanders and Alison Hart-Abbott.

Following a very careful study of Funeral vehicles in 2006 the desicion was made to switch the fleet of cars to Mercedes. The new E Class stretch limousine providing benefits in passenger space, safety features and represents the traditional values established over over 100 years. See Pictures. The fleet has now changed over and the Mercedes cars have been a great sucess.

Our catering services were inspected by East Northants Council this year, 2007, and awarded the maximum 5 STARS . Our catering team will be happy to serve you either in our air-conditioned catering suite or at your home / venue.

On 30th January, 2008 a new Chapel of Rest, Station Road, Ringstead was dedicated by the local clergy and is now available for use.

The Finedon Chapel of Rest was opened February, 2008 and located at Milner Road Finedon.

These two developments will enable families to have their loved ones that little bit closer to home.

On 27th November, 2008 the catering / service room at Rushden was renamed "The Asher Suite" in memory of Mr Asher Abbott the founder of the company back in 1885. A new canopy over the entrance to the suite has made locating the room so much easier for the bereaved. The Evening Telegraph reported the event with a news story and photograph of Michael & Bill Abbott.

Bereavement Counsellor

Mrs Patricia Abbott is a trained bereavement councellor who and can provide a personal service either at our premises or in your own home. With over 20 years experence in this area and contacts to a national network of support.
